Ali Al jabiri è nato ad Amara in Iraq, ha terminato gli studi di arti visive  a Bagdad. Ha portato a termine gli studi  di scultura alla scuola di Pericle Fazzini presso l' Accademia di  Belle Arti  di  Roma , e di  decorazione con Marcello Avenali. Egli è uno dei promotori del gruppo artistico (neo - percettivisti e simbolisti)Ha partecipato in Patria e all'estero a mostre di pittura, scultura, ceramica ed incisione. Molte sue opere sono presso collezionisti privati e musei. Le sue partecipazioni alla Biennale di  Venezia hanno riscosso grande successo per i temi  trattati, sia per  i materiai  usati, vince diversi concorsi pubblici in Italia  dove realizza monumenti a Lecce, Gaeta, Bari  Gaeta  etc.........

                                       ALI AL JABIRI E IL NOMADISMO CULTURALE TRA ORIENTE E OCCIDENTE

 

Nella settimana di questo  settembre 2018 è scomparso Ali Al jabiri uno dei più importanti artisti del X Municipio. Ali Al jabiri è stato tra gli artisti iracheni contemporanei il più completo e rappresentativo: autore di importanti monumenti , ceramista, pittore, scultore, incisore e grafico di grande talento che  ha  avuto anche il merito di non aver pensato solamente a se stesso, ma come  rappresentante dell' Arte delle Comunità arabe di aver divulgato con tutti i mezzi  a sua disposizione l'arte e la cultura arabo-musulmana in Italia, dove è stato residente stabilmente dal 1970.

Il  suo  studio-laboratorio in via Capitan Consalvo ad Ostia nel tempo  è  diventato un porto di  mare dove sono approdati artisti  giovani  o nel pieno della loro maturità umana nel segno di un'ospitalità affabile, accogliente ed in grado di promuovere quel "nomadismo culturale" capace di rompere i limiti dei vari  generi e contaminare i linguaggi provenienti dall' oriente e dell' occidente, dal mito  della storia, dai problemi esistenziali e da quelli  sociali e contemporanei.

Ali  Al jabiri è  nato  ad Amara in Iraq  ha studiato arti visive Bagdad ed ha completato la sua formazione artistica in Italia come allievo  di Pericle Fazzini  e di  Marcello Avenali  per  pittura. Dalle sue partecipazioni alle Biennali di  Venezia del  1976 , del 1988 e del 1990  ha riscosso un crescente successo che  lo hanno visto  esporre nelle maggiori  capitali del mondo e collocare monumenti  dall' Italia all'Egitto dall'Iraq all'Arabia Saudita  dal Qatar agli Emirati Arabi  o presso  Enti  o  Musei. Dopo aver assimilato echi e percorsi visivi che sono alla base della cultura universale è  riuscito a crearsi un proprio  stile, maturo e pregnante i cui  elementi fondamentali  sono: una certa solennità d'impostazione, un disegno agile ed  elegante ,toni caldi e chiari come sabbie  del  deserto, atmosfere particolari ed intense che derivano dalla lettura del Corano  della Bibbia e strani arabeschi che vanno  alla ricerca dello spazio  per  imprigionarlo e formare piante o volti , spesso stilizzati fino al limite dell' astrazione.

La sua pittura  una sorta di  neo-simbolismo, dove gesti , i  segni, i numeri , le cifre travalicano il loro più elementare ed evidente significato contribuendo a suscitare nella mente di  chi  guarda idee  e sensazioni diverse che conducono a realtà più lontane e solenni. E' un'arte stilizzata dal contenuto altamente poetico dove l'essenzialità del  ricordo diventa essenzialità di  espressione, dove il succo e gli aromi delle cose, il sapore acre del  vento, la vita  nomade dei pastori, la conquista  libertà o una nuova dominazione , la pace o la guerra, l 'amore e la fecondità della terra e della donna si materializzano in segni e colori chiarissimi, in immagini fatti  di  silenzi e di sensazioni  profonde, di preziosi accostamenti tonali, che appaiono quasi svuotati dal contenuto cromatico,  perché  immersi in una luce accecante o velati dalla polvere del deserto. Quest' artista è capace di  far rivivere sulle tele i  suoi fantasmi interiori , i luoghi della sua terra rivisitati  attraverso il  filtro della  memoria e della nostalgia. Un tema ricorrente è la Moschea, che non è solo il  luogo d adorazione e di insegnamento  religioso, ma il  simbolo ideale dell' unità di tutti gli arabi, perché è intorno ad  essa che sorgono le case le scuole, i luoghi  di  abluzione, gli ospizi e minareti da dove il muezzin invita alla preghiera.

Una pittura pregnante, che ha radici profonde nel passato ma sa stabilire ponti d'intesa con il futuro, perché ripete il significato antico delle cose con un linguaggio nuovo scrivendo segno dopo segno, colore dopo colore forma plastica dopo  forma la sua storia e definendo il suo ruolo di  autentica ricerca nella società  contemporanea così  ricca di fenomeni, di  contraddizioni e di problemi.

Gli obelischi  che spesso  gli egiziani simboleggiavano il dio del sole Ra o un raggio  di  sole pietrificato, hanno sostituito nel tempo il mezzo preferito da Ali Al jabiri per  dar luogo a quelle rappresentazioni scultoree ricche di  simboli con una  raffigurazione molto  evidente, più facilmente  rintracciabile e più godibile da tutti i lati , povera  rappresentare i caratteri della sua terra, della sua cultura e della sua religione. Alcuni  avvenimenti degli ultimi anni, come lo tsunami, tragico e scioccante,  la distruzione,  a causa della guerra del 2003 in Iraq, di  libri, reperti  archeologici  e di opere d 'arte nei musei sono diventati oggetti  delle sue rappresentazioni  scultoree, dei  suoi monumenti e delle sue  istallazioni cogliendone in particolar modo la tragicità e quella residua  poesia, che può suggerire un volo di  colombe, simbolo di pace che alla maniera  biblica, sovrasta gli avvenimenti per  restituire all' umanità il senso della continuità e di un  nuovo patto di  tregua nel nome di un  nuovo Umanesimo  e di una Cultura  intesa come crocevia d'incontri tra  Oriente  e Occidente. Come lo  stesso Ali  Al jabiri ha  scritto: "L'arte  orientale è  L'arte  più antica del mondo, è importante per un artista di  tutti i tempi studiare l'arte  orientale, sia essa  egiziana sumerica o babilonese,  affinché  da  questa esperienza si formi una coscienza artistica.

In questi miei  dipinti la  linea semplice, lineare, la forma è orientaleggiante come si può notare dai visi di  donna così  tondeggianti  e di  grandi  occhi languidi :espressione tipica della donne sumeriche o  babilonesi..."

ALI AL JABIRI AND CULTURAL NOMADISM BETWEEN EAST AND WEST

 

In the week of this September 2018 Ali Al Jabiri disappeared one of the most important artists of the X Town Hall. Ali Al Jabiri was among the most complete and representative of contemporary Iraqi artists: the author of important monuments, ceramist, painter, sculptor, engraver and graphic designer of great talent who also had the merit of not having thought only of himself, but as representative of the Art of the Arab communities to have disseminated with all the means at its disposal the Arab-Muslim art and culture in Italy, where he has been a permanent resident since 1970.

His studio-laboratory in via Capitan Consalvo in Ostia over time has become a seaport where young artists have landed or at the height of their human maturity in the sign of an affable, welcoming hospitality and able to promote that "cultural nomadism" capable of breaking the limits of the various genres and contaminating the languages ​​coming from the East and the West, from the myth of history, from existential problems and from social and contemporary ones.

Ali Al jabiri was born in Amara in Iraq. He studied visual arts in Baghdad and completed his artistic training in Italy as a pupil of Pericle Fazzini and Marcello Avenali for painting. From his participation in the Venice Biennials of 1976, 1988 and 1990 he has enjoyed a growing success that has seen him exhibit in the major capitals of the world and place monuments from Italy to Egypt from Iraq to Saudi Arabia from Qatar to the Emirates Arabs or at institutions or museums. After assimilating echoes and visual paths that are the basis of universal culture, he has managed to create his own style, mature and pregnant, whose fundamental elements are: a certain solemnity of setting, an agile and elegant design, warm and clear tones like sands. of the desert, particular and intense atmospheres that derive from the reading of the Koran of the Bible and strange arabesques that go in search of the space to imprison it and to form plants or faces, often stylized up to the limit of abstraction.

His painting is a kind of neo-symbolism, where gestures, signs, numbers, figures transcend their most elementary and obvious meaning, helping to arouse in the mind of the beholder different ideas and sensations that lead to more distant and solemn realities. It is a stylized art with a highly poetic content where the essentiality of memory becomes the essence of expression, where the juice and the aromas of things, the acrid taste of the wind, the nomadic life of the shepherds, the conquest of freedom or a new domination, peace or war, love and fruitfulness of the earth and of the woman are materialized in very clear signs and colors, in images made of silences and deep sensations, of precious tonal combinations, which appear almost emptied by the chromatic content, because they are immersed in a blinding light or veiled by the dust of the desert. This artist is able to revive his inner ghosts on canvas, the places of his land revisited through the filter of memory and nostalgia. A recurrent theme is the Mosque, which is not only the place of worship and religious teaching, but the ideal symbol of the unity of all Arabs, because around it are the houses, schools, places of ablution, hospices and minarets from where the muezzin invites to prayer.

A meaningful painting, which has deep roots in the past but knows how to establish bridges of understanding with the future, because it repeats the ancient meaning of things with a new language writing sign after sign, color after color, form plastic after its history and defining the its role of authentic research in contemporary society so rich in phenomena, contradictions and problems.

The obelisks that the Egyptians often symbolized the sun god Ra or a petrified ray of sun, over time have replaced Ali Al Jabiri's preferred means to give rise to those sculptural representations rich in symbols with a very evident depiction, more easily traceable and more enjoyable from all sides, poor represent the characters of his land, his culture and his religion. Some events of recent years, such as the tragic and shocking tsunami, the destruction, due to the 2003 war in Iraq, of books, archaeological finds and works of art in museums have become objects of his sculptural representations, of his monuments and its installations, in particular collecting the tragedy and the residual poetry, which may suggest a flight of doves, a symbol of peace that in biblical manner, overpowers the events to restore to humanity the sense of continuity and a new treaty of truce in the name of a new Humanism and a Culture understood as a crossroads of encounters between East and West. As Ali Al Jabiri himself wrote: "Oriental art is the oldest art in the world, it is important for an artist of all time to study oriental art, be it Egyptian Sumerian or Babylonian, so that from this experience form an artistic conscience.

In these paintings of mine, the simple, linear line, the shape is oriental, as can be seen from the faces of a woman so round and with big languid eyes: typical expression of Sumerian or Babylonian women ... "
